Love this phone system! July 29, 2010 K Dygert (Upstate NY) I needed to upgrade two very old phones. So when I saw this phone made by AT&T, coupled with the Consumers Report rating, other users ratings, and the cost, I thought I'd give it a try. I have one under the microwave and one in the other room, works beautifully. I can go outside and still clear as can be. No more complaints from callers! Another wonderful feature is that when you program numbers in one handset, the programmed numbers are automatically saved in the second handset. The only complaint I do have is the sleek design allows the phone to easily slide off your shoulders. Maybe a slip-proof backing would be beneficial. All in all, love these phones.
Good Quality Phone - could be be even better July 29, 2010 Mitch Deerfield (Florida) For the price, this is one of the best wireline phones I have ever had. Sound quality is very good, the phones have a good feel and seem sturdy, and the controls are easy to understand.
Things that could be improved to get a 5-star rating:
The display is not back-lit so it is a little bit hard to read
There is no speed-dialing feature, which I find amazing.
There should be a better selection of ring-tones. Most of the 10 that are include are harsh sounding, and some even sound similar to each other.
AT&T DECT 6.0 EL51209 Cordless Telephone is great! July 29, 2010 Ray Sullivan (Greensboro NC) My wife and I replaced an old 2-line Panasonic cordless with this product. We are delighted with every feature, esp the light/portable style that easily fits in a pocket. The sound is excellent. Those complaining of a poorly visible LCD screen are simply too lazy to push the "Off" button which instantly lights it up with a futuristic orange glow. The keys light up, they are soft but large enough, and we don't have any mis-dials like some have noted. Scrolling through the menus is easy and storing numbers is easy. It doesn't have a speed dial feature but an easy workaround is to place the most important numbers in the directory preceded by AA, AB, AC, etc (preceding the name not the number) and the user will have speedy access via the "Dir" press just the same. This avoids trying to remember the exact name in the directory since everything is stored alphabetically. It works for us. Another neat feature is storing a pre-paid telephone calling card number, esp useful when you don't need daily access to a long-distance carrier with all the add-on taxes, etc. With the 0.289/min card from our local warehouse membership (the big "C") and registration to permit PIN-less dialing, it works really well. I specifically ordered the model that is off-white, has only 2-handsets, has NO answering machine. It comes with the preferred Ni-MH battery so we anticipate a long-life without the memory problems of a Ni-Cad battery. This model is made in China but I have read that some AT&T models are made in Mexico and may not have quite the same quality. This is a 5-star product for us. The Amazon price was great and free shipping to boot!AT&T DECT 6.0 White/Grey Digital Dual Handset Cordless Telephone (EL51209)
cordless phone review July 28, 2010 Tom Constans Purchased this phone set to replace another recently purchased but very unsatisfactory cordless phone. The 2 phone set is very convenient. The directory establishment is cumbersome as seems to be true of many cordless phones.
